Measuring Yourself For Our Jeans

Do you know the most asked question we get at LKL HQ?

'I'd totally in love with your Hug Me Baby jeans, but I'm in between sizes, what should I do?'

Well, fear not, we're here to help, just drop us an email at sales@lady-k-loves.com and we'll help you work it out.

But if you're feeling a bit more adventurous and want to try working it out yourself, here's out how to guide.

Firstly grab your self a tape measure, and remember this, clothes sizes have changed to reflect our bodies changing (for the most part growing) over the years, the only thing that is a true reflection of you, is your reflection. Don't worry about the label. Worry about if you feel and look good. Yeah? Yeah.

So, now you're armed with a tape measure and a sense of reassurance that you're beautiful and people love you. Measure around your natural waist first of all. For most of us this is a couple of inches higher than your belly button. Jot this number down, we're based in the UK so our sizing is in inches. You can convert cm to inches here

Now measure around 6" lower than your waist line to get your hip measurement. Jot this down too.

The way it works is this,

our Classics are cut for a difference of around 10". This is the 'average' hip to waist difference and work for most people. If you're more like 8" difference, go for the smaller size.

Hug Me Baby's are cut for girls with 12"+ difference between their hips and their waist. For the most part, you KNOW if you're this body shape. you can NEVER get anything to fit,  your waist is tiny, your hips/ass is pretty full. Years of frustration....I kinda can't reinforce this enough, they look so much better on girls who have 12"PLUS difference between their hips and waist, so waist 26", hips 39"

Le Wild, well.....let live up to their name and are a total wild card. With a straight leg, and a side zip, they fit an assortment of body shapes. basically if you love them, unless you have a crazy hip to waist ratio, they should fit you and look great! I've seen girls with only 6" - 8" difference rock these, all the way up to 12" so for the most part you can too.

Unique style

We get asked from time to time if we will be restocking item X, and sadly for a lot of you the answer is......we probably won’t be, at least not for a good while.

But there's a reason for this. Lady K Loves isn't mass produced, and we want you to keep feeling and looking special and unique. As avid fans of eclectic dressing ourselves, we tend to combine Lady K Loves vintage inspired styles, with original vintage, high street and designer items to make sure we don't turn up to the party in just the same outfit as someone else.

As a result of this, Lady K Loves produces stock in one off runs, so colour ways aren’t restocked past our initial allowance of fabric. For items such as the jeans, trousers, pencil skirts etc we’ll always run a black colour way and keep restocking this periodically. But for the most part we don’t restock sold out colour ways. This means you know when you buy a Lady K Loves item you’re one of the few people who own it, helping to keep your style unique.

How to care for you Lady K Loves jeans

We know you love your jeans so much! It’s fantastic getting loads of responses from you all saying that you are so happy that you can finally wear some jeans.

So here’s how to look after them in the best way. There should be a wash care label, but that has limited space, so here’s some more info.

Firstly, don’t wash them, not if you can help it. The less you wash them, the less the fabric gets thrown around and rubbed against its self.

In fact…FIRSTLY, try not to blow them out. When you get home from work, put on your slouches, sitting cross-legged, on your knees, or anything which means you’re stretching the knees out will ruin the shape. So when you can, avoid it.

Then don’t wash them that much.

When you do, depending on how dirty they are, turn them inside out and do on a 30 degree quick wash. This will basically give them a quick rinse and tighten them back up.  Keeping them inside out helps to keep the colour in so less fading, and less ruining of other things in the wash too.

Please pleaseplease! Don’t put jeans in the tumble drier. Our wearing and use of jeans has changed dramatically over the years, they are far more a fashion item than the hard wearing work wear they started life out as. HOWEVER, tumble driers kill your clothes. If you can, use it for things like towels, hoodies, socks, gym kit. Basically nothing you love.

Once your jeans are washed, pull them flat, so smooth out creases in the legs, lye them flat and either hang to dry on the washing line or on a radiator, clothes horse whatever, but flat, smoothed out to remover creases and not in the tumble drier.

Lastly, put them back on and think, ‘Oh jeeze these are tight!’, then go out and have fun.

From 0 - 60....or something like that

I got a super sweet email the other day and thought some of you might like to hear about it. A love lady sent me a message saying this....

I love the clothes you sell do you think I would be too old to wear them at 59?

How old are your customers ranges?

It took me a couple of days to get back to her becuase I was off talking to suppliers, but my reply was this, and it's true.

Sorry I’ve been out of the office for a couple of days.

One of the things I was doing, was a trip to London with my mum, who's around your age, and wears my designs, in fact the Wendy trousers were named after her!

My aim is to design flattering, wearable, playful and sophisticated clothing for women of all ages and body shapes. I’m pleased to say my customers range from teens to 60+

If you need any help on the sizing, cut of fit of an item please let me know and I’ll be happy to help.

So I'm hoping you feel like this is what you get from Lady K Loves, and if you've any questions I'm always happy to help.
