Gifts that keep coming - Make An Advent Calendar

It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas!

Are you starting to feel the Christmas feeling? We're planning our presents lists at Lady K Loves HQ, and have some great ideas to spread some extra Christmas spirit. And the first one needs a little planning and to get started before December.

One of the best things about Christmas as a kid is advent calenders, whether it's pictures or chocolate, all yours or one you shared with your siblings, opening those little doors was the highlight in counting down to Christmas. Why not share that excitement again! You could even swap with friends and all make one each.

Here are a few DIY ideas to make some fun advent calendars, from quick to crafty.

Want a classic version with pictures? Draw your main picture, cut out your 24 or 25 doors, then mark where to draw the hidden images. Hide stars, donkey's and other Christmas images behind each door.

Going for something is presents in?

There's the buy and decorate option like this house from Hobbycraft.

Or use toilet roll or kitchen roll tubes, you can also use egg boxes or other boxes from around the house recycling and decorating them.

Or use glass jars, buckets or containers to make little present holders

A bit more in to something sewing than gluing or constructing? Why not cut out shapes in felt and sew little pockets to hide all of your treats?

So, you have your advent calendar made...now it's time to find the perfect treats. Go classic with chocolates or sweets, be a little more generous with some miniatures of their favourite spirits, or getting hold of some samples of their favourite beauty products? We teamed up a few options and then buy some smaller treats like jewellery or accessories to keep it interesting. Mix and match everything together to make the perfect count down to Christmas.
