Kickstarter FAQ's

It's been a busy week at LKL HQ, among our work load this week is getting this launched....the pre-order for our Hug Me Baby and Le Wild jeans styles. We'll be starting work with a new supplier in Thailand who have an environmental aspect to their work and will mean we have a great denim source.

We've had quite a few questions so we thought we'd make it nice and easy for you all, with a FAQ.

I can’t afford to pledge right now, there’s nothing I’m interested in pledging for but I want to help, what can I do?

Please share the pledge page. Tell your friends and followers about it. Tell them why you want to support it. If it’s because you want to get a pair of the Polly’s or Classics once they’re available, want to buy a pair of HMB’s or Le Wild’s later down the line but need to save up a little first. That you just like what we do as a brand, sourcing fair trade made and taking the environment into consideration with our production. That we make limited edition styles so you know you won't look the same as everyone else. Whatever it is that makes you want to pledge, if you tell your friends why you love us, they'll understand and love us too.

What happens if you don’t hit the goal?

If we don’t hit our target, no money is taken from pledgers and we don’t put the jeans into production. So I’m sure it will get a little boring hearing from us all of the time but this is why we’re talking so much and so loudly about it! We really want to get this off the ground and be able to bring out all of the designs we have ready and waiting to go.

I can only afford the smallest pledge right now...but I want some jeans!
Well, you can pledge as much or as little as you can afford. No money is taken until the end of our pledge run. This means if your circumstances change over the month, you can log back in and adjust your pledge for the jeans you're after.

How do I pick my size? Do I pick a size when I pledge?

Once the Kickstarter finishes and we are ready for production, we’ll send out a form for you to complete where you can outline your preferred size, inducing leg length and colour. This is also the point where we’ll get your address for delivery too.

Will you be doing either style in Black or 36”?

We’re aiming to do a full restock of all options; this includes the long leg and black colour ways.

I really want a pair of the Classics that are out of stock!

Ideally we’ll do more than this and be restock the Classic styles AND a new style. If all goes well we’ll have denim left over and be able to bring out a couple of other ideas we have too! So keep an eye on the pledge page and our social media. Once we hit our target, we’re adding in new pledges so you can get the currently out of stock options on the Classics.

I heard on someone’s Instagram/Facebook/Twitter post something about petite jeans? Tell me about it please.

One of the options we want to be able to bring out is a petite style, cut with a tight leg, high waist, but so the waistband doesn’t hit your nipples! To do this we need to hit our target and beyond.

New ways to pre-order

We are very excited to be able to be bringing you our sell out jeans relaunch! After issues with our previous supplier, we have found a new one which can firstly match our previous denim quality and opens the door for some great new styles AND more denims in the future.

Previously we have run pre-order via our website, this has led to some confusion at times about which sizes are in stock and ready to ship out and which sizes are on pre order. So we had an idea. To help provide transparency and clarity and make keeping everyone updated from one central point easier, we havedecided that an external site is the best way to go.

There are loads of great reasons for doing this. Keeping pre-order items off the website means you know how long you need to wait, gives you confidence in our production of these items and their deliver-ability by separating them from current stock. It means all the funding is held separately, so you know where your money is going. We can update the project in one place and you can see other people’s questions too.  So if you’re not sure about something you can check to see if anyone else has asked the same thing, or if we’ve provided an answer by updating that bit of information ourselves.

We’ve put together some exciting rewards which offer a treat to all purse strings. We know you may not be able to afford a pair of our jeansin one go, so we’ve put in options to enable you to support us right now, so that  you can get a pair in the future.

We can take more than our goal but if we don’t hit our target, we don’t get any of the funds and its back to the drawing board. We’re confident in this approach because we believe that firstly, you guys love what we do enough to support us, but also that you love what we do enough to share this project and spread the good word. The more people who pledge and share the quicker we hit our goals and the more we can offer you.

Backing a project is more than just pledging funds to a creator. It's pledging your support to a small independent business that helps to bring their big ideas to life. You’ll not only get the item  you pledged for, you’ll know you’ve been instrumental in helping us reach our goals and being able to bring you more and even better styles it the future.

Just a little bit lower

It's been a busy few months for everyone. Lots of fun, lots of excitement and possibly a little bit of overindulgence.

From Black Friday through to Christmas there's been things to get and sort for everyone but quite possibly not you. Come January your purse strings are a little tight and you're also quite likely on that new year diet, exercise program or booze free plan!

As a treat to help you through, give you something to work towards or something to keep your spirits high, we've reduced the price of some of our full price stock. So you can save yourself between £4 - £6 which in the UK is than the cost of our postage.

Introducing, knitwear.

The UK is pretty cold, even in summer it can be cold, and damp. Autumn and Winter are blustery and chilly, Spring is 'fresh' shall we say, most of the time. So wrapping up warm is an art form most Brits' are accomplished at. That's not to say we're the only ones with this skill. Many of our cousins in Europe have a similar if not worse climate. The thing which separates us a little is that, being an tiny little island means the weather can change very quickly, where as mainland Europe is a lot more steady. With that in mind layering up is key here.

To which you may be thinking OK, whatever, that's hardly interesting chat.

But, the result of this is what is interesting.

Our new knitwear range!

We're extremely pleased with this. It includes a couple of pieces we've wanted to launch for years (actual ones not just over exaggerated ones)  AND our Bernie Jumpers which previously were extremely popular and a sell out.

The best bit about our knitwear? It's being hand machined for you in a fair trade factory in Nepal. We were lucky enough to go and visit the factory over the summer and meet the owners and lovely workers there. Hand machining is very hard physical work so it's guys who work the machines down stairs. In the top floor of the factory, there are highly skilled women who finish, check and ensure the garments meet the quality specifications.

We're launching with pre-order AND to give you a thank you and an incentive to order yours now, we have reduced the price for pre-order only. As soon as we have the products on their way the price will increase.

We put together this quick behind the scenes video during our recent shoot with Holly Matthews Photography, featuring Beth as our model. It's always great fun working with these two beauties and we're really pleased with the results.

Gifts that keep coming - Make An Advent Calendar

It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas!

Are you starting to feel the Christmas feeling? We're planning our presents lists at Lady K Loves HQ, and have some great ideas to spread some extra Christmas spirit. And the first one needs a little planning and to get started before December.

One of the best things about Christmas as a kid is advent calenders, whether it's pictures or chocolate, all yours or one you shared with your siblings, opening those little doors was the highlight in counting down to Christmas. Why not share that excitement again! You could even swap with friends and all make one each.

Here are a few DIY ideas to make some fun advent calendars, from quick to crafty.

Want a classic version with pictures? Draw your main picture, cut out your 24 or 25 doors, then mark where to draw the hidden images. Hide stars, donkey's and other Christmas images behind each door.

Going for something is presents in?

There's the buy and decorate option like this house from Hobbycraft.

Or use toilet roll or kitchen roll tubes, you can also use egg boxes or other boxes from around the house recycling and decorating them.

Or use glass jars, buckets or containers to make little present holders

A bit more in to something sewing than gluing or constructing? Why not cut out shapes in felt and sew little pockets to hide all of your treats?

http://www.craftpaperscissors.com/homemade-advent-calendar-crafts/
So, you have your advent calendar made...now it's time to find the perfect treats. Go classic with chocolates or sweets, be a little more generous with some miniatures of their favourite spirits, or getting hold of some samples of their favourite beauty products? We teamed up a few options and then buy some smaller treats like jewellery or accessories to keep it interesting. Mix and match everything together to make the perfect count down to Christmas.

You can see some of our inspiration at our Pinterest mood board, which inspired our shots. We once again fell in love with the glamour and ease of GUESS jeans adverts, particularly those of the early nighties featuring Anna Nicole Smith. We mixed this with some of the playfulness of a relaxed and classic take on rockabilly style. Both styles had an affection for a bad girl, and who were we to ignore that!

Working with a combination of great brands, who brought both playfulness and sophistication thanks to the wonderful Sun Jellies and Bow & Crossbones, with Rockabilly Red hair flowers finishing off the looks to perfection. We're incredibly pleased with the over all look and are excited to show you all of the finished images.
