Kickstarter FAQ's

It's been a busy week at LKL HQ, among our work load this week is getting this launched....the pre-order for our Hug Me Baby and Le Wild jeans styles. We'll be starting work with a new supplier in Thailand who have an environmental aspect to their work and will mean we have a great denim source.

We've had quite a few questions so we thought we'd make it nice and easy for you all, with a FAQ.

I can’t afford to pledge right now, there’s nothing I’m interested in pledging for but I want to help, what can I do?

Please share the pledge page. Tell your friends and followers about it. Tell them why you want to support it. If it’s because you want to get a pair of the Polly’s or Classics once they’re available, want to buy a pair of HMB’s or Le Wild’s later down the line but need to save up a little first. That you just like what we do as a brand, sourcing fair trade made and taking the environment into consideration with our production. That we make limited edition styles so you know you won't look the same as everyone else. Whatever it is that makes you want to pledge, if you tell your friends why you love us, they'll understand and love us too.

What happens if you don’t hit the goal?

If we don’t hit our target, no money is taken from pledgers and we don’t put the jeans into production. So I’m sure it will get a little boring hearing from us all of the time but this is why we’re talking so much and so loudly about it! We really want to get this off the ground and be able to bring out all of the designs we have ready and waiting to go.

I can only afford the smallest pledge right now...but I want some jeans!
Well, you can pledge as much or as little as you can afford. No money is taken until the end of our pledge run. This means if your circumstances change over the month, you can log back in and adjust your pledge for the jeans you're after.

How do I pick my size? Do I pick a size when I pledge?

Once the Kickstarter finishes and we are ready for production, we’ll send out a form for you to complete where you can outline your preferred size, inducing leg length and colour. This is also the point where we’ll get your address for delivery too.

Will you be doing either style in Black or 36”?

We’re aiming to do a full restock of all options; this includes the long leg and black colour ways.

I really want a pair of the Classics that are out of stock!

Ideally we’ll do more than this and be restock the Classic styles AND a new style. If all goes well we’ll have denim left over and be able to bring out a couple of other ideas we have too! So keep an eye on the pledge page and our social media. Once we hit our target, we’re adding in new pledges so you can get the currently out of stock options on the Classics.

I heard on someone’s Instagram/Facebook/Twitter post something about petite jeans? Tell me about it please.

One of the options we want to be able to bring out is a petite style, cut with a tight leg, high waist, but so the waistband doesn’t hit your nipples! To do this we need to hit our target and beyond.

New ways to pre-order

We are very excited to be able to be bringing you our sell out jeans relaunch! After issues with our previous supplier, we have found a new one which can firstly match our previous denim quality and opens the door for some great new styles AND more denims in the future.

Previously we have run pre-order via our website, this has led to some confusion at times about which sizes are in stock and ready to ship out and which sizes are on pre order. So we had an idea. To help provide transparency and clarity and make keeping everyone updated from one central point easier, we havedecided that an external site is the best way to go.

There are loads of great reasons for doing this. Keeping pre-order items off the website means you know how long you need to wait, gives you confidence in our production of these items and their deliver-ability by separating them from current stock. It means all the funding is held separately, so you know where your money is going. We can update the project in one place and you can see other people’s questions too.  So if you’re not sure about something you can check to see if anyone else has asked the same thing, or if we’ve provided an answer by updating that bit of information ourselves.

We’ve put together some exciting rewards which offer a treat to all purse strings. We know you may not be able to afford a pair of our jeansin one go, so we’ve put in options to enable you to support us right now, so that  you can get a pair in the future.

We can take more than our goal but if we don’t hit our target, we don’t get any of the funds and its back to the drawing board. We’re confident in this approach because we believe that firstly, you guys love what we do enough to support us, but also that you love what we do enough to share this project and spread the good word. The more people who pledge and share the quicker we hit our goals and the more we can offer you.

Backing a project is more than just pledging funds to a creator. It's pledging your support to a small independent business that helps to bring their big ideas to life. You’ll not only get the item  you pledged for, you’ll know you’ve been instrumental in helping us reach our goals and being able to bring you more and even better styles it the future.

How to care for you Lady K Loves jeans

We know you love your jeans so much! It’s fantastic getting loads of responses from you all saying that you are so happy that you can finally wear some jeans.

So here’s how to look after them in the best way. There should be a wash care label, but that has limited space, so here’s some more info.

Firstly, don’t wash them, not if you can help it. The less you wash them, the less the fabric gets thrown around and rubbed against its self.

In fact…FIRSTLY, try not to blow them out. When you get home from work, put on your slouches, sitting cross-legged, on your knees, or anything which means you’re stretching the knees out will ruin the shape. So when you can, avoid it.

Then don’t wash them that much.

When you do, depending on how dirty they are, turn them inside out and do on a 30 degree quick wash. This will basically give them a quick rinse and tighten them back up.  Keeping them inside out helps to keep the colour in so less fading, and less ruining of other things in the wash too.

Please pleaseplease! Don’t put jeans in the tumble drier. Our wearing and use of jeans has changed dramatically over the years, they are far more a fashion item than the hard wearing work wear they started life out as. HOWEVER, tumble driers kill your clothes. If you can, use it for things like towels, hoodies, socks, gym kit. Basically nothing you love.

Once your jeans are washed, pull them flat, so smooth out creases in the legs, lye them flat and either hang to dry on the washing line or on a radiator, clothes horse whatever, but flat, smoothed out to remover creases and not in the tumble drier.

Lastly, put them back on and think, ‘Oh jeeze these are tight!’, then go out and have fun.
